OPC 關於 “Republication” 的結論

This committee has been asked to give its advice as to whether and in what particular senses the Mosaic covenant can be considered as a republication of the Adamic covenant in a manner that is consistent with the system of doctrine contained in our standards.

我們在本報告中指出了兩種基本的 “重新頒布” 方式:本質性的 和 管理性的。
In this report, we have identified two basic senses of republication: substantial and administrative.

管理性的重新頒布

管理性的重新頒布與我們的標準一致,因為它連貫地堅持摩西之約在本質上是恩典之約。
Administrative republication is consistent with our standards in that it coherently maintains that the Mosaic covenant is in substance a covenant of grace.

管理性重新頒布的例子包括 宣告式的、內容性的、誤解式的 重新頒布,以及 對亞當犯罪與被放逐的一種間接的、救贖性的重演 (如我們報告中所述)。
Examples of administrative republication include declarative, material, and misinterpretive republications, as well as an indirect, redemptive reenactment of Adam’s sin and exile (as described in our report).

本質性的重新頒布

與我們信仰標準在神學上不一致的 “本質性的重新頒布” 觀點包括:單純的、從屬型的、混合式的,以及對亞當墮落前盟約試煉的一種直接的、非救贖性的重演。
Views of substantial republication which are theologically inconsistent with our standards include: pure and simple republications, subservient republications, mixed republications, and a direct, non-redemptive reenactment of Adam’s pre-fall covenantal probation.

根據 OPC 2016 年《Republication 報告》的定義:
  • Pure and simple republication:認為摩西之約在本質上就是行為之約的再設立,沒有任何恩典元素。
  • Subservient republication:承接17世紀一些清教徒(如 John Cameron)的觀點,認為摩西之約是一個獨立於恩典之約的約,以順服換屬地祝福,作為對恩典之約的輔助;這種結構把律法當作得福的功德條件。
  • Mixed republication:將摩西之約視為部分是恩典、部分是行為的混合體,這違反了改革宗關於聖約“單一本質”的理解。
  • A direct, non-redemptive reenactment of Adam’s pre-fall covenantal probation:將摩西之約理解為一種直接、不帶救贖性的亞當試煉的重演,把以色列的地位視為再次面對行為試煉的機會,且沒有指向基督的預表性。

其他方面

此外,我們的信仰標準肯定:基督這位神人、並中保的功德,在於祂完美的、個人的、相稱的、有益的、且白白的順服。
Furthermore, our standards affirm that the merit of Christ, the God-man and mediator, consists in his perfect, personal, proportional, profitable, and free obedience.

基督以被揀選之人的代表元首的身份,獻上祂的盟約順服與受苦。
Christ offers his covenant-obedience and sufferings as the representative head of the elect.

祂因此滿足了原始行為之約的要求,併除去了其刑罰。
He thereby fulfills the requirements and removes the penalty of the original covenant of works.

正因為墮落之人無法履行這些條件,所以他就 (嚴格來說) 無法從神那裡獲得任何形式的獎賞。
Precisely because fallen man cannot fulfill these conditions, he is unable (properly speaking) to merit a reward from God of any kind.

雖然我們的報告中還探討了與 “重新頒布” 問題相關的其他重要議題,但以上這些點構成了本委員會對總會所提出基本問題的回應。
Although there are other important issues related to the question of republication addressed in our report, these points comprise the committee’s answer to the basic question posed to us by the general assembly.
