Jesus is God

Jesus is 100% God and 100% man.

“Scripture is clear that Jesus is God (John 20:28; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 1:8), and it is equally clear that He is truly human (Romans 1:2-4; 1 John 4:2-3). Jesus claimed the divine name (John 8:58) and did things that only God can do (Mark 2:1-12; Luke 7:48-50). But Jesus also displayed the weaknesses and vulnerabilities common to humanity (Luke 19:41; John 19:28).”

—————————————————————————————

God says, “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no God.” (Isaiah 44:6)

Jesus says, “I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.” (Revelation 1:17-18)

Jesus says: “For unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24b)

If you do not know that this Jesus is God, you cannot find God elsewhere.

Jesus says, “If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.” (John 14:7)

Jesus says, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.” (John 14:9)

—————————————————————————————

The Father is called God (Phil. 1:2).
The Son is called God (John 1:1, 14; Rom. 9:5).
The Spirit is called God (Acts 5:3-4).

Lie to the Holy Spirit = Lie to God (Acts 5:3-4)

Romans 9:5 = “the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever.” (ESV)

—————————————————————————————

The Father is not the Son. The Son is not the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not the Father. Each of them have different wills.
Luke 22:42 = “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
1 Cor. 12:11 = “All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.”

—————————————————————————————
2 Corinthians 4:4 = The “god of this age” has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

—————————————————————————————

The doctrine of Trinity is of the whole Bible. All three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) do the things only God can do, such as giving life, receiving worship, being called “Lord,” etc.

Jesus receives worship from men (Matthew 28:17). Jesus talks in the way God talks (Isaiah 44:6; Revelation 1:17-18). The apostles writes the names interchangeably between God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9-11).

The whole Bible is about God’s Salvation in Jesus. The Bible tells us that Jesus is who God became man in order to die for us, and He is raised from dead. Because Jesus is not only a man, His death can save many people forever, who sinned against God.

You are not saved unless you know that Jesus is God. In John 8:24. Jesus said, “For unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”

—————————————————————————————

John 1:1 says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Eternal is to know God (John 17:3). Knowing Jesus is knowing God, because He is God in a human body.

If Jesus is not God, then in John 17:3, Jesus is saying this: Eternal life is to know God and a creature sent by God. That is blasphemy.

If Jesus is not God, the Jews would not atone him. In John 10:33, the Jews answered Jesus, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.” Jesus did not deny.

If Jesus is not God, he would not be crucified (Matthew 26:65-66).

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus uses the singular “name” by saying “the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

—————————————————————————————

The Spirit of God = The Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9)
The Spirit in you = Christ in you (Rom. 8:9-10)

Rom. 8:9 = “You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.”

—————————————————————————————

Jesus say, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30)
Paul calls Jesus “great God and Savior” (Titus 2:13)
Thomas calls Jesus, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28)

—————————————————————————————

Jesus said he would raise himself from the dead (John 2:19).
The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11).
The Father raised Jesus from the dead (1 Thessalonians 1:10).

—————————————————————————————

Jesus’ name = Immanuel = “God with us” in Hebrew (Matthew 1:23)

Jesus is God in a human body (Hebrews 2:14)
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil.”

—————————————————————————————

It’s true that we cannot fully understand the Trinity. We are limited creatures. We cannot fully understand God. But we have reason to believe because we can put our faith in the Bible.
Also, the spiritual world does not use the same logics. For example, there were 2,000 unclean spirits in a person’s body (Mark 5:1-20; Luke 8:26-39). They said, “My name is Legion, for we are many” (Mark 5:9). Look, “My name” is singular; “we are” is plural. You see, it’s a good example that the spiritual world is not the same logics. But of course, God is much higher than this.

—————————————————————————————

The Bible reveals that there’s only one God, and all the 3 persons share the same attributes of God, as well as the works that only God can do. Each person has his own mind, will and feeling. These three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory. Do not use any example to illustrate the doctrine of Trinity. There’s no good examples. The best way is to see it clearly in the Bible. There are many Bible verses. My favorite one is in Romans 8:9-11.

—————————————————————————————

Jesus and the Father are 2 people, yet they are one.

John 8:16-19, Jesus said, “… for it is NOT I ALONE who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. In your Law it is written that the testimony of 2 people is true. I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.” They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father ALSO.”

—————————————————————————————
John 1:1 = “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14 = “The Word became flesh.”
John 12:27 = Jesus said: “Father, … for this purpose I have come to this hour.”
John 17:5 = The Son was with the Father before the world existed.
John 17:24 = The Father loved the Son before the foundation of the world.
—————————————————————————————
Rom. 14:10 = “For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.”
2 Cor. 5:10 = “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.”
—————————————————————————————
God’s part in salvation is the Incarnation and Atonement (Gal 4:4-5; Phil 2:6-8)
Redemption is appointed by God the Father.
Redemption is accomplished by God the Son.
Redemption is applied by God the Holy Spirit.
—————————————————————————————
John 8:58 = “I AM” = Jesus said He is God. He was not saying that He is the Father.
Mark 14:36 = Jesus said, “Abba, Father, … not what I will, but what you will.”
Matthew 28:19 = “…baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
John 17:5 = The Son had glory with the Father before the world existed.
God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” (Genesis 1:26)
God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:22)
God said, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” (Isaiah 6:8)
—————————————————————————————

Jesus said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”
Stephen said, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”

(Luke 23:46; Acts 7:59)

—————————————————————————————

Acts 3:15 = and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

—————————————————————————————
Believing in Jesus = Trusting in Jesus = Receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior = Commiting your life to Jesus
—————————————————————————————
The judgment seat of Christ = The judgment seat of God
(Romans 14:10; 2 Corinthians 5:10)
—————————————————————————————
