不知道从什么时候开始，很多基督徒开始相信一个理论，就是一个国家的政策比一个领袖的人品更加重要。个人认为，一个会说谎的、不择手段的领袖比一个有逼迫性的政策更加可怕。逼迫也许能带来复兴，但骄傲则走向败坏。撒但擅长的不是逼迫，而是迷惑。

我想没有任何时候比此时更加适合把耶利米书再重新读一遍。我们应该回想在耶利米的时代，当上帝兴起尼布甲尼撒来攻击自己百姓的时候，几乎所有的人都站在王的那一边，就像今天的局面。可悲的是，一些教会的领袖甚至把自己的立场强加在别人身上，并施压于一切反对的声音。

人的选择往往不是那个、就是这个 (either…or…)。而神往往选的不是这个，也不是那个 (neither…nor…)。我想，耶利米的选择反映出了上帝的立场。一个在信仰上堕落的国家需要的不是粉饰而是重建。我想，逼迫更能说明上帝还没有放弃这个国家。
