When Christians love the world…

When Christians love the things also loved by the world, when Christians act like the world and smell like the world, when Christians do not look like Christians, people do not know what is a Christian. We do not lack of knowledge, we lack of seriousness, holiness, the fear of God. Everyone says they love God and love others, but the point is they also love the things in the world.

Holy Living – Sanctification, p.109

Justification is something done for us;
sanctification is something done in us.

Justification is a once-for-all declaration by God;
sanctification is an ongoing, inward work of God.

Our justification can never be improved upon, because we are seen perfect in Christ;
our sanctification is constantly being improved upon, because we are never actually perfect in this life.

Justification alone gives us the right to enter heaven;
sanctification makes us fit to enter heaven.

“Feelings come and feelings go,
And feelings are deceiving;
My warrant is the Word of God–
Naught else is worth believing.

Though all my heart should feel condemned
For want of some sweet token,
There is One greater than my heart
Whose Word cannot be broken.

I’ll trust in God’s unchanging Word
Till soul and body sever,
For, though all things shall pass away,
His Word shall stand forever!”

Martin Luther
